Chios Island (Greek: Χίος, Turkish: Sakız Adası) is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, located directly opposite Çeşme, İzmir, Turkey. It is only 7 km from the Turkish coast and reachable by ferry from Çeşme in 35 minutes. With an area of 842.5 km², it is Greece's 5th largest island.
The easiest and fastest way to Chios from Turkey is the Çeşme-Chios ferry route. From İzmir city center, it's about 1 hour by car to Çeşme, then 35 minutes by ferry to Chios Island. Total journey time from İzmir is approximately 2 hours. Daily ferry services run during summer season.
Public transport on Chios Island is very limited. Renting a car is essential for reaching the island's beaches, medieval villages and tourist attractions. Car rental companies are available at Chios port. Daily prices range from €30-65.
